REGISTRATION FEES

Individual Competitors

$50.00 Early Registration Fee if postmarked by April 24th

$65.00 Registration Fee. (At the Door or postmarked after April 24th)

Family Discount (for multiple competitors living in the same household)

$40.00 per family member if postmarked by April 24th

$50.00 per family member at the door or postmarked after April 24th.

To receive the family discount all family member registration forms must be delivered in the same envelope.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

 Clean Taekwondo Uniform in good condition.

World Taekwondo Federation approved uniforms are preferred.

 Taekwondo Helmet in good repair. No plastic facemasks or cages are allowed.

 Mouthpiece

 Cup (for male competitors), Female groin protectors are advised but not required.

 Taekwondo Chest protector: It is advised to wear a chest protector that has both a blue and side as well and that wraps around and cover the kidneys.

 Taekwondo Forearm Guards (cloth, foam or vinyl)

 Taekwondo Shin Guards (cloth, foam or vinyl)

 Taekwondo Instep Protection (cloth, foam or vinyl) or foam padding taped to the foot.

 W.T.F. Taekwondo Gloves and Footpads are allowed but optional.

ALL COMPETITORS AND SCHOOLS ARE WELCOME!

Please be prepared to honor and follow the rules of Olympic Style Taekwondo Sparring and the standards for Taekwondo forms competition as taught by the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters). While we will honor forms from different styles we will be judging forms based on the criteria published in the Kukkiwon Textbook.

We will be implementing the rules for Olympic Style Sparring & USAT Junior Safety Rules.

The tournament director reserves the right to modify the rules for individual division and matches in the interest of safety.

ROUNDS & TIME LIMITS

Color Belts & Competitors under 12 years old: Three 1-minute rounds with 30 seconds rest

Black Belts: Three 2-minute rounds with 30 seconds rest

Sudden Death/Victory: A 4th round decided by the first point scored. In the event of no score in the 4th round the referee will declare a winner.

TWO MATCHES GUARANTEED

We will provide all competitors with a minimum of two sparring matches.

Divisions

We reserve the right to combine divisions in order to provide the best possible competition and allow everyone a chance to EARN their medals. Our goal is to have brackets with no less than four competitors and up to 32 competitors. Color Belts are welcome to “fight up” with senior ranks!

Scott Stevens is a outstanding instructor. Before moving to the YMCA program my son was a member of ITA (International TaeKwonDo Association) at 180th and Center with Mr. Boughtin. We were frustrated with his training there and the lack of personal attention and concern Mr. Boughtin showed for his students. We felt like it was all about the buisness and less about the art of TaeKwonDo. We were nervous to move to the YMCA because we were told by the ITA people that the program there couldn't possibly be a good quality program.

The first time I watched Mr. Steven's students practice I was blown away by the stark differece in their level of skill in comparison to the ITA students. Mr. Steven's students had wonderful form, powerful kicks, and apparently much more dicipline. They really understood the art and reached for excellence.

Mr. Steven's gave my son personal attentiona and was always available to us when we had concerns or needed to talk. The experiece was all together on a different level. Those students who make it to black belt under Mr. Stevens have truly earned their rank and mastered the art.

Group class is great but going one-on-one with Mr. Stevens is a real, serious workout! I’m exhausted yet pumped about all I accomplish in private lessons plus its time that I feel I can be more myself, like we can talk and be less rigid than in group class.

In private lessons I get all of Mr. Stevens’ attention. He can really see that I’m working hard and I can ask lots of questions without distractions. We get to fine-tune my Forms and work on Sparring techniques better than in the group classes.
